HUBERT HOCHE
MYSTIKA by Hubert Hoche
- a "life" piece between eros and ethos.
A multimedia performance project with music, visual images and dance.
The piece is about life itself: from birth through to death, about becoming, growing, flourishing and passing. Life - a mystery which we encounter with awe and yet whose protagonists we ourselves consist of. Composer Hubert Hoche has created seven musical pictures which convey the course of life in fields of tension between drive and sense, ethos and eros, individuality and ongoing recurrence. Where do we come from? Where are we going to? What should we be doing? These are the fundamental philosophical questions which Hubert Hoche's performance project raises. However, simple or religious answers are not offered; instead, we encounter a musical-visual canvas which encourages us to reflect, and in which we perhaps ultimately recognise ourselves. MYSTIKA is in the truest sense of the word a "life" piece, which Hubert Hoche has repeatedly worked on over the course of many years.
